Mason Mount will not be sold during the summer transfer window, with him being identified as a key player in Ruben Amorim's system at Manchester United, according to reports.

The Englishman made his first appearance on Tuesday night since the Manchester Derby in December, coming off the bench for the final 12 minutes in the 1-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest.

Mount was brought on to make an impact as United chased the game, and while Amorim's side ended up losing anyway, he put in a good shift, linking up well with the other players and coming very close to equalising with a curling effort.

Due to his injury struggles, there have been multiple reports suggesting that Mount could be on his way out of the club this summer.

However, commenting during his Q&A session on The Athletic, journalist David Ornstein clarified that this will not be the case, saying that he will not be leaving United this summer.

He added that United will be focused on keeping him fit as they think that he is a great fit for Amorim's set-up.

Additionally, the Reds feel that no club will be keen to offer United the level of money to produce a profit on the €64 million fee that they paid for him in 2023.

This season, Mount has only played in 13 games, only six of which were starts. In total since he has joined United, the 26-year-old has featured in 33 games, scoring just once and providing only one assist.

With Christian Eriksen set to leave, together with doubts over the futures of Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo and Casemiro, Mount could well have a role in United's team next season, given he stays fit.
