There are no negotiations ongoing for Marcus Rashford to join Aston Villa permanently from Manchester United.
The 27-year-old joined Villa on loan until the end of the season back in January, after falling out of favour with Ruben Amorim.
The deal included a £40 million buy option clause, yet it does not prevent other clubs from coming forward and signing Rashford.
Rashford suffered a hamstring injury in April, keeping him out of the final few games for Villa, with him also being ineligible to take part in the final Premier League game against his parent club Manchester United on 25th May.
According to BBC Sport's Simon Stone, while Villa have benefitted from Rashford's time at the club, with the Englishman returning to form, there have been no negotiations over a permanent move from United.
Unai Emery's side are still battling for a spot in next season's UEFA Champions League, which would greatly improve their position in negotiating a deal to sign Rashford. Reports indicate that the forward does not want a drop in his current salary of around £325,000 per week.
People surrounding Rashford believe that Amorim does not want to restore the forward to the United squad, thus leading to Rashford having to consider his options.
For the time being, Rashford is expected to return to United for pre-season training in July, with him most likely set for a move elsewhere.
The fact that Rashford's contract runs until 2028 will mean that United will most probably have to offer to pay a portion of his wages or to accept a reduced fee in order to offload him.
Rashford is targeting a move to a Champions League club, with reports of a move to Barcelona not going away after years of interest.
Stone has not ruled out the possibility of another loan deal rather than a straight transfer.
In all competitions this season, Rashford made 41 appearances, scoring 11 goals and providing nine assists in the process. Interestingly, four of his goals and six of his assists came during his time in Birmingham.
