Ruben Amorim has highlighted that failing to win the UEFA Europa League would be really bad for Manchester United going into next season, both financially and in terms of motivation.

The Portuguese manager was speaking on Wednesday in his pre-match press conference ahead of Friday's Premier League encounter against Chelsea.

During the press conference, Amorim was bombarded with questions on his previous comments that he would be prepared to leave should United start the upcoming league season in the same way they are ending the present one.

At one point, he was quizzed on the possibility of coming away with a defeat next week in the Final against Tottenham, where he was asked whether it would be not as bad as initially seems.

Amorim was bold in his response, stating that failing to get the Europa League win over the line would have bad repercussions for United.

"It's going to be really bad. I don't want to use that as an excuse and the patience of the fans and you guys if we don't win it, next year, is going to be in the limit," he remarked.

"We have to be perfect to continue everything, I know that. So, it's not better in that way," Amorim added.

Amorim emphasised that failing to win the Europa League would further increase the pressure that is already on him.

"For sure. If we don't win, that is clear but I'm not concerned about that," he stressed.

Winning the Europa League would have a drastic impact on Manchester United's situation heading into next season.

Aside from having the feel-good feeling of having won a trophy, easing some of the pressure off Amorim in what has been a disastrous season that has seen them languishing in the lower half of the Premier League table, it will also having a significant effect on United's finances.

A triumph in Bilbao next week will mean United will have an increased transfer budget heading into next season, while also having the advantage of offering players UEFA Champions League football, which could be more crucial than ever considering the disappointing downturn in league performances over recent seasons.

Amorim already has plenty of pressure on him, and while United will be facing a Tottenham side that is also underperforming and under immense amount of pressure, a European trophy would do wonders for the Red Devils.
