Manchester United suffered a 1-0 defeat away at Stamford Bridge in their penultimate Premier League game of the season.

Ruben Amorim started a relatively strong side, despite having the UEFA Europa League Final five days away.

United produced one of their stronger Premier League performances in the past three months, with them looking especially good in the first-half. They had a Harry Maguire goal disallowed by VAR for a very close offside, and were pinning Chelsea in their own half.

However, their pace slowed down after the break, and Chelsea took the lead thanks to a goal from Marc Cucurella. United did not do much to trouble the Chelsea goal following that, looking content to pass the ball around the back, meaning Ruben Amorim's side remained 16th, and without a win in eight league wins.

Here are our player ratings:

Andre Onana 6

Commanded his area really well but was let off the hook when he palmed a shot straight into the path of Enzo Fernandez, who luckily was offside. VAR rightly overturned a penalty decision that went against him. Had no chance with the goal.

Victor Lindelof 5

He was solid throughout, looking good with his passing and having the better of Noni Madueke for much of the game. However, he got beaten at the far post by Cucurella for the goal, highlighting his lapses in concentration.

Harry Maguire 7

Looked very good throughout the whole match, and put away Bruno Fernandes' cross brilliantly, yet was denied the goal after being marginally offside. A good performance from him going into the Final.

Luke Shaw 6

Steady from the Englishman during the 80 minutes he had on the pitch. Could possibly be set to start on Wednesday.

Noussair Mazraoui 6

Solid at the back and was slick with his passing, but did not offer much going forward.

Casemiro 6

Did not look off the pace in the Premier League, and was comfortable on and off the ball. Great preparation for Wednesday, and he was taken off early to be saved for the Final.

Bruno Fernandes 6

Started next to Casemiro and was still his influential best, spraying passes across the pitch during the first-half especially. Was close to getting an assist for Maguire's disallowed goal, but his influence faded in the second-half.

Patrick Dorgu 5

Did not offer much going forward and was sometimes beaten by Reece James. Needs to pick up his performances especially with the Final up next.

Amad Diallo 5

Constantly pressed the Chelsea defence and was getting some change out of them. He was not as smooth with his passing and sometimes made the wrong decision in the final-third. Had a shot stopped by Robert Sanchez.

Mason Mount 6

Booed, but produced another solid performance, working hard on and off the ball. Had a shot go way wide in the first-half, and was close to scoring in the second-half. Hooked off as Amorim looks to get him ready for Wednesday.

Rasmus Hojlund 3

Another shocking performance from the Dane, with him getting no change from the Chelsea defenders, and was constantly losing the ball at the halfway line. Fernandes was furious at him for not completing one of the passes in the first-half. Looks like he is on the way out with his recent performances.

Substitutions

Manuel Ugarte 4

Came on and Chelsea immediately scored and seized control of the match. Did not look comfortable on the ball.

Alejandro Garnacho 4

Easily beaten by James for the goal, and did not offer much of an impact going forward.

Ayden Heaven 5

Great to have him back after two months out, but probably could have injected some more urgency in his play.

Kobbie Mainoo 5

Introduced late on, but did not have any effect on the game.

Manager - Ruben Amorim: 6

Stated a very strong side ahead of the Final and seemed to get his gameplan spot on in the first-half, with United looking the stronger of the two sides. But United lost control after the break, and succumbed to yet another defeat in the league under Amorim. All of the attention will be on Wednesday, but these league defeats will not help Amorim especially goin into next season.
