Manchester United recorded their first win of the season on Saturday, beating Burnley 3-2 thanks to a stoppage time Bruno Fernandes penalty.

United started brightly, wanting to respond following the midweek disappointment against Grimsby Town. United then took the lead in the 27th minute thanks to a Josh Cullen own goal, after Casemiro's header ricocheted off the bar and bounced off the Burnley man.

Ruben Amorim's side continued to pile the pressure on the Burnley defence, yet could not find a second goal, despite creating plenty of chances.

Following the break, Burnley equalised as Lyle Foster was left unmarked in the box to slot the ball into the net. Yet United immediately responded, as Diogo Dalot beat his marker, before cutting it back to Bryan Mbeumo who found the net for the second game in a row, his first in the Premier League for United.

However, Burnley were level again later in the half after Altay Bayindir failed to deal with a cross, before the ball was bundled into the net by Jaidon Anthony.

Yet United had the last laugh, as Amad was brought down in the penalty area, with United being awarded a spot-kick. Bruno Fernandes converted the penalty to get United their first win of the season.

Here are the player ratings:

Altay Bayindir 4

Brought back into the side and spent the first-half as a spectator. Did not have a chance with the Foster goal, but should have done much better for the Burnley second.

Leny Yoro 6

Calm and composed as always, and really good on the ball. Probably could have done slightly better for the Foster goal.

Matthijs de Ligt 7

Did not have much to do, keeping the Burnley forwards quiet when called up. Dealt with some shots with key blocks and also made several interceptions.

Luke Shaw 6

Good on the ball and always looked to push forward in order to support Diogo Dalot. Almost served as a left-back at times.

Amad 7

A much better performance from the Ivorian than what he produced in midweek. Constantly looked to drive at Burnley and came very close to scoring when he received a square pass from Mbeumo. But was relentless and got the penalty to win the game.

Casemiro 6

Solid throughout most of the game, and his header rebounded off Cullen to open the scoring.

Bruno Fernandes 7

Constantly involved in the game, looking to dictate the play from deep. Delivered an excellent ball to Amad who attempted a volley from a corner. Much more elegant on the ball than he has been in recent weeks, and eventually scored the penalty in added time, rectifying his missed penalty last week.

Diogo Dalot 7

At times frustrating, but on others actually brilliant. Started at left wing-back and did very well especially going forward, delivering excellent crosses. Great and smart cut-back to Mbeumo for the goal.

Mason Mount 8

Another stellar performance from Mount, who was constantly pressing and linking up very well with the rest of the team. Unfortunately got injured and had to come off at half-time.

Bryan Mbeumo 8

The best player on the pitch throughout the whole game. Elegant touches and really dangerous when driving at opposition defenders. His link-up play is improving, and he constantly makes the right decision. Went close to getting his first Old Trafford goal, before he eventually got it to make it 2-1.

Matheus Cunha 6

Started brightly, as has been the case in the previous three games. However, had to be substituted in the first-half after suffering a hamstring injury.

Substitutions

Joshua Zirkzee 6

Brought on in the first-half and was relatively quiet at first, before playing a key role in Mbeumo's goal.

Kobbie Mainoo 5

Brought on at half-time and was relatively good on the ball, but not excellent. Will need to improve in order to force his way in the side.

Benjamin Sesko 6

Looked more involved than he has been in previous appearances, and came very close with a header. A taste of what he can produce when fully integrated in the forward line.

Noussair Mazraoui 6

Returned for his first appearance of the season, and produced a no nonsense display yet again.

Manager - Ruben Amorim: 7

Faced a very tough week and the team needed to respond following the disaster of midweek. He made the right calls in starting Mount again and bringing Bayindir back in the side, albeit not doing much better than Onana did. United were fluid in their play yet again and created plenty of chances. Made the right substitutions, not disturbing United's rhythm.
