Manchester United left it late to earn a point away to Bournemouth on Sunday thanks to a rare Rasmus Hojlund goal.
The Cherries started strong, and they took the lead in the first-half after Antoine Semenyo fired a powerful strike past Andre Onana.
United had opportunities to equalise, with the main one falling to Alejandro Garnacho after the Argentine connected with a pass from Bruno Fernandes, yet his effort to lob it over Kepa Arrizabalaga was tipped away.
Dango Ouattara came close to doubling Bournemouth's lead with a free-kick that almost caught Onana out, yet his shot hit the post.
The home side was reduced to 10 men in the 70th minute after Evanilson went rashly into Noussair Mazraoui, as VAR upgraded an original yellow card to a red.
United piled on the pressure, with Mason Mount, Bruno Fernandes, Chido Obi and Garnacho all having opportunities to score, but their shots were either saved, blocked or went wide.
However, United would get their goal, as Hojlund got on the end of a ball from Manuel Ugarte to tuck it into the net in the sixth minute of stoppage time, scoring his fourth Premier League of the season.
Here are our player ratings:
Andre Onana 5
Could have done better with some of his distribution, but aside from the goal, he was rather untroubled on the day.
Leny Yoro 6
Had a shaky opening few minutes, but then grew into the game and looked more accomplished on the ball. One of United's better ball-carriers without a doubt.
Harry Maguire 6
Secure and looked comfortable throughout the game. Came off with the trip to Bilbao in mind.
Luke Shaw 5
Started his first match in 434 days and he looked way off it. Disastrous pass to Patrick Dorgu for Bournemouth's goal and did not look great for most of the game. Improved when United were searching for an equaliser and had a hand in the eventual goal.
Noussair Mazraoui 5
With Diogo Dalot out, Mazraoui was pushed up to wing-back, and he did not offer much going forward. He was fouled for the red card.
Casemiro 5
Struggled in a game that involved more intensity and served as a reminder of his weaknesses. Will probably start in Bilbao and was taken off on the hour-mark.
Kobbie Mainoo 6
One of United's better players on the day, looking bright with his play. Showed brilliant skill before firing a shot at Arrizabalaga.
Patrick Dorgu 4
Him and Shaw were at fault for Bournemouth's goal, and he was finding it difficult to handle the Cherries' press. Looked better going forward, with many of his cutbacks unfortunately not finding their targets.
Alejandro Garnacho 6
Frustrated when his effort was tipped over by Arrizabalaga. Had the beating of his man on countless occasions, and he had a number of shots either blocked or go narrowly wide. Delivered a series of crosses that were not met by the other United players.
Bruno Fernandes 5
One of his less impressive performances. Had a brilliant pass towards Garnacho that was not finished, and often tried to lob the ball over the Bournemouth defence, yet it was not successful on many occasions.
Rasmus Hojlund 6
Struggled to get into the game, with most of the play going down the wings while he had to wrestle with the Bournemouth defenders for some space. Yet he reacted quickly to Ugarte's ball and guided it into the net to make it 1-1 with his fourth league goal of the campaign, giving him a much-needed confidence boost ahead of the trip to Bilbao.
Substitutions:
Victor Lindelof 6
Came on for Maguire and did not have much to do.
Mason Mount 6
Brought a bit of energy into the team and had two efforts blocked by the stubborn Bournemouth backline.
Manuel Ugarte 7
United's best player without a doubt. Instilled a sense of urgency and was drifting past players. Found Hojlund for the equaliser.
Chido Obi 6
Brought on alongside Hojlund and had a decent chance just a few seconds after.
Christian Eriksen 5
Did not have that much time to make an impact, but tried to deliver balls into the box, to no success.
Manager - Ruben Amorim: 7
Chose his strongest team available and looked to give more minutes to players who needed it during the match. United created plenty of chances and aside from the mix-up for the Bournemouth goal, were relatively tight at the back. United's finishing is badly impacting the team, and Amorim desperately needs to get his forwards scoring. The decision to keep Hojlund on could work wonders for his confidence.
Up next for United is a trip to Bilbao to face Athletic Club in what is so far the biggest game of the season. Bilbao or bust.
