Manchester United maintained their unbeaten run of form with a draw away to Tottenham on Saturday after a tight match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
United started very strong, looking very confident in their play against what seemed like a toothless Tottenham side. Bryan Mbeumo put United ahead after the Red Devils' attack pressed the Spurs backline, before Amad crossed the ball towards the Cameroonian, who headed the ball into the net.
In the second half, United were defending admirably, with Senne Lammens making a series of saves. However, Spurs got their equaliser late on thanks to Mathys Tel, before they quickly turned the result on its head after a shot was deflected into the net by Richarlison.
United still had plenty of fight in them, as in the sixth minute of stoppage time, Matthijs de Ligt, who had a brilliant game, rose highest from a corner to head home an equaliser and earn Ruben Amorim's side a point.
Here are how the United players fared:
Senne Lammens 7
Grew into the game as it wore on, and in the second half made two very good stops to deny two certain Spurs goals. Had no chance with either of the two eventual goals.
Matthijs de Ligt 7
Class on the day, and it is clear that he has been United's best defender so far this season. Put his body on the line and stifled most of the Tottenham attacks by being tight on the forwards. Tel's strike was deflected off of De Ligt, but the Dutchman then came up clutch with a huge header.
Harry Maguire 6
Seemed very eager and determined to make a mark, linking up very well with the rest of the defence. Performed very well and made a number of crucial interceptions and tackles. Forced off with an injury.
Luke Shaw 6
Stepped into midfield on some occasions, and largely kept the Tottenham forwards quiet. Helped drive United on with his forward passes.
Noussair Mazraoui 6
Mazraoui was recalled to the team and was aggressive from the first whistle. Subbed off.
Casemiro 7
Casemiro is quickly becoming integral to everything United do under Amorim. Broke down plenty of Spurs' attacks and was vital to helping United push forward, while also allowing his teammates to press further up the pitch. It is clear that when he goes off the pitch, United are a different team.
Bruno Fernandes 5
Not at his very best, but was great at linking up play with the rest of the team. He was overrun in the final few minutes, but also delivered the corner for the equaliser.
Patrick Dorgu 5
An up and down game from the Dane. Looked very good at the back, winning the ball back a number of times. However, he was also sluggish and wasteful with his final product. Needs to improve on his final ball.
Bryan Mbeumo 8
United's best player, yet again. Fresh off winning his Player of the Month award, he was once again unplayable at times. Headed the opener brilliantly, leaving the Spurs goalkeeper with no chance. While he faded in and out of the game, whenever he got the ball, he was a threat.
Amad 6
Played a subtle, yet perfect cross for Mbeumo's opener, and helped United in the press while he was in an advanced position. Switched to right wingback later in the game.
Matheus Cunha 5
Not his best match in a United shirt, but did plenty of dirty work, pressing Spurs into making errors at the back. Booked early in the second half, and was subbed off later in the half.
Substitutions
Benjamin Sesko 4
Linked up well with the rest of the team and helped give United a focal point when they badly needed it. However, he squandered a big opportunity before getting injured due to the collision, and United had to play the rest of the match with 10 men due to having made all of their subs.
Manuel Ugarte 3
Came on for Casemiro, and while he covered plenty of ground, he also allowed Pape Sarr to run off him for the Tottenham equaliser. Good with his passing, but should have done much better. Can't seem to string together a run of positive form.
Mason Mount 6
Pressed and looked dangerous whenever he got the ball. Arguably should have come on a few minutes before.
Leny Yoro 5
Solid and did his job after coming on for Maguire.
Diogo Dalot 4
A couple of heavy touches and not really solid defensively.
Manager - Ruben Amorim: 5
Amorim seemed to get his match plan spot on, with United countering Tottenham's style of play throughout the whole first half. However, the substitutions, although the correct ones, completely changed the way the game was turning out. Certain changes should have probably been done earlier, but it is clear that he does not fully trust his fringe players yet. His team showed spirit yet again to fight back and get a point. While not a win, it is positive that United are now frustrated for not winning games. United are building momentum gradually.
