Manchester United got their first point of the season after a draw away to Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday.
United started very well, looking to continue on the same attacking threat that they utilised last week against Arsenal. The same front three that started at Old Trafford, started at Craven Cottage, and Ruben Amorim's side were very lively early on.
Matheus Cunha hit the post inside the first two minutes, before being denied with a good save by Bernd Leno.
Right before half-time, United were awarded a penalty after a VAR review, with Calvin Bassey pushing Mason Mount to the ground. However, Bruno Fernandes, normally so reliable from the spot, put his effort over the bar.
In the second-half, United took the lead after a header from Leny Yoro was deflected off Rodrigo Muniz and went into the net. However, Emile Smith Rowe equalised for the home side a few minutes later.
United could not find a winner, despite coming close from a Harry Maguire header, and the match finished 1-1.
Here are how the players fared on a frustrating afternoon:
Altay Bayindir 4
Bayindir had yet another unconvincing performance, yet again being a mess from set-pieces. He made a couple of smart stops, especially to deny Josh King in the first-half, but he was constantly being targeted in corners, and failed to deal with most of them. Had no chance with the Fulham goal.
Leny Yoro 8
Yet another stellar display from the young defender. Yoro made a stunning tackle on King, before he then got the vital touch for the United goal. Quickly becoming United's most reliable defender.
Matthijs de Ligt 7
Controlled Muniz very well and yet again showed his strength when challenging for the ball. A true leader in the middle of the defence.
Luke Shaw 6
Solid for large parts of the game, looking like he is slotting in well in that left centre-back position. However, he should have probably done better for the Fulham equaliser, being on the wrong side of Smith Rowe.
Amad 5
Not the best of displays from Amad. While he was enterprising at times and was driving at opposition defenders, he was not fully at it. Forced a save from Leno in the second-half. Subbed off midway through the second-half.
Casemiro 5
Put up a pretty good fight in the first-half, but he started to get overrun by the energetic Fulham midfield as the game wore on. Got booked in the 39th minute and could not deal with the opposition from that point on.
Bruno Fernandes 4
Put his penalty way over the bar, just the fifth time he has missed a penalty for United. Lost the ball on a number of occasions in midfield, once when he was unaware that he had an opposition player pressing him. Not very creative and not very good defensively. A start to the season to forget for the United captain.
Patrick Dorgu 5
Pushed forward as he looked to deliver balls into the penalty area, yet he did not provide too much service. Struggled to deal with the Fulham attack late on.
Mason Mount 8
Probably United's best player on the pitch. His pressing was on point and he delivered neat balls to Cunha on two occasions in the first few minutes. Slick with his passing and very energetic when coming back to defend. Dropped into midfield before being hooked off after the United goal.
Bryan Mbeumo 6
The summer signing did not have as much space as he did against Arsenal, and he was being frustrated with not getting the ball enough. However, whenever he did get the ball he was always smart with it and even delivered an excellent cross for the corner that got United's goal.
Matheus Cunha 6
Had a very, very quick start. Hit the post in the first few minutes and was a constant danger in the opening stages. Set up by Bayindir in the first-half, bringing the ball down brilliantly, before his shot was saved by Leno. Faded in the second-half, despite having some neat touches.
Substitutions:
Diogo Dalot 4
Probably rightly brought on as Fulham were overloading the United right, but he was indecisive and poor for the equaliser. Really frustrating.
Benjamin Sesko 5
Made some tidy touches, but did not get involved that much. Still needs to get accustomed to the league's style.
Manuel Ugarte 5
Came on to shore up the midfield following the United opener, and while he looked better than last week, he was still not at it.
Harry Maguire 6
Did not put a foot wrong, and came very close to scoring with his first touch.
Ayden Heaven 6
Came on late on with Maguire, and did not have much to do.
Manager - Ruben Amorim: 5
Opted to keep the same team apart from starting Amad instead of Dalot, putting his faith in Bayindir. The Turkish goalkeeper was unconvincing yet again, and while United started very well, the energy faded as Fulham grew into the game. Probably should have taken Bruno off given his performance, but kept his belief in his captain. While a point is not a bad result, it does take an edge off the momentum from last week's performance.
United will now face Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup, as Amorim looks to bounce back.
