Manchester United dropped even more points on Sunday afternoon after a tight 1-1 draw away at Elland Road, despite producing a confident and resilient display.
The match was off to a relatively poor start, with no side really taking control in the opening stages, before United really started to control the ball with some authority. Both teams had some opportunities, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin hitting the woodwork while Leny Yoro had a header that was excellently saved.
In the second-half, Leeds took the lead after some indecisiveness from United was capitalised on by Brenden Aaronson, who tucked a shot past Senne Lammens.
However, United responded immediately, and just seconds after coming on, Joshua Zirkzee found Matheus Cunha, who stroked the ball into the back of the net to equalise.
Cunha and Benjamin Sesko both had chances to win it late on, with Cunha hitting the woodwork, while Sesko failed to find the target. The match ended in a draw, with Manchester United now picking up just six points from their last five games, three of which came as draws.
Here is how the players fared against Leeds:
Senne Lammens 7
Might have done slightly better to close down the angle for the Leeds goal, but other than that, he continued to show what an excellent signing he has proven to be. Made a couple of smart saves in the second-half, and commanded the penalty area really well. Distribution was on point as usual.
Leny Yoro 6
A sound performance from the Frenchman. While the defence had some nervy moments, the defenders were always there to cover when needed, and Yoro handled the Leeds forwards well.
Ayden Heaven 7
Another excellent display from the young defender, who is continuing to grow in confidence game by game. Brilliant in possession, but he was indecisive for the Leeds goal. Will be difficult to select a backline once Matthijs de Ligt and Harry Maguire are back, as Heaven is firmly a contender now.
Lisandro Martinez 8
United's standout player on the day. Great on the ball, distributing it well and helping push United forward, while also showing plenty of aggression when needed to defender. Rose to the occasion.
Diogo Dalot 5
While he covered plenty of ground, he had some slack moments in possession and was at fault for giving the ball away for the Leeds goal. The home side tried to capitalise from the moments he left the right wide open.
Manuel Ugarte 7
One of his best games in a United shirt, looking good on and off the ball. Looked to battle for every ball and more often than not he got it back. Combined well with the rest of the team.
Casemiro 7
Linked up well with Ugarte and was arguably better on the ball than his teammate. Covered plenty of ground and looked to create chances when needed.
Luke Shaw 7
Another start for Shaw, and another good display, this time at wing-back. Did well when defending set-pieces and looked to attack whenever he had the opportunity.
Patrick Dorgu 6
Moved further forward again, and while he is dangerous on the counter, he struggles to deliver the final ball. Needs to be calmer in possession.
Matheus Cunha 7
A very lively display from the Brazilian. Looked to press from the front and was excellent on the ball. Took his goal brilliantly, and could have had a second had it not been for the woodwork.
Benjamin Sesko 5
Improved as the game wore on, especially once Zirkzee was on the pitch. Got involved in the goal, but he should have come away with a goal of his own, missing a golden chance to win it late on. Lively in terms of link-up play, just needs a goal.
Substitutes
Joshua Zirkzee 7
Came on right after the Leeds goal and slotted in perfectly right behind Sesko. Made an instant impact with a cutting-edge pass to Cunha for the equaliser, and was lively throughout his whole cameo. Needed to perform after some disappointing displays in recent weeks, and he made the difference at Elland Road.
Manager - Ruben Amorim 7
The pressure is piling on Amorim, but he got the approach spot on today given the current circumstances. United were the better team overall, looking comfortable in possession, but as he has highlighted on multiple occasions, the team is still lacking in the details, particularly making errors at the back while not finishing their chances. He went on an outburst after the match, with reports highlighting his unhappiness at the lack of financial backing this month, even with so many players out injured or away for AFCON.
