Manchester United returned to winning ways on Monday night with a dominant win at Molineux, putting four past bottom-of-the-league Wolves.

United were in control from the first whistle, and they took the lead in the first half thanks to a very scrappy goal from Bruno Fernandes, managing to find the back of the net despite slipping. However, Wolves responded with an equaliser right before the break, completely against the run of play, with Jean-Ricner Bellegarde capitalising from a lapse in concentration from the United backline.

United were creating chance after chance, but they made them count in the second half, looking much brighter.

Bryan Mbeumo restored United's lead after receiving a pass from Diogo Dalot, before Mason Mount made it three with a lovely volley from a sensational Fernandes pass. The Portuguese captain made it four with a late penalty, capping off a brilliant performance.

Here are our player ratings:

Senne Lammens 6

A relatively quiet, but frustrating night for the Belgian. He barely had anything to do, but could not do much for Wolves' goal, continuing his run of no clean sheets since his debut shutout against Sunderland.

Noussair Mazraoui 8

United's strongest performer in the bacline. Made a series of vital blocks and tackles that continued to deny Wolves any sort of joy going forward, with one particular sequence in the second half seeing him make three interventions. Solid.

Ayden Heaven 6

An improvement from his performance in midweek, but still not very convincing. He got some valuable minutes as he continues his development.

Luke Shaw 7

Made a number of strong challenges and always looked to be on the front foot in his defending. Vital role in the second goal, winning the ball before feeding his teammates.

Amad 7

Could not get himself on the scoresheet despite having a number of attempts, but had a significant influence on the match. Proved to be too tough to handle for Wolves down the right, and came away with an assist having won a penalty.

Casemiro 6

An enterprising display from the Brazilian, who won the ball back for the first goal and then showed that he is truly better than his opponents. His influence dropped as the game wore on.

Bruno Fernandes 9

Sublime from start to finish, even from a deep role. Made an excellent turn and finish despite receiving a poor pass from Cunha, firing United in front. He was part of the build-up for the second goal and then delivered a sublime pass to Mount for the third. Ruthless from the spot to get his brace and extend United's lead even further. Constantly found pockets of space and capitalised from Wolves' inability to defend. Class.

Diogo Dalot 7

Another solid performance from the Portuguese wingback, who is gradually improving. Could have opened the scoring early on, but then assisted Mbeumo for the second goal. His pace and power is proving to be a useful tool for United.

Bryan Mbeumo 6

Mbeumo had a very slow performance in the first half, having a couple of sloppy touches and loose passes, with one leading to him running back and subsequently getting a yellow card for a needless tackle. Grew into his role as the game wore on, and he had an easy finish for is seventh goal for the club.

Mason Mount 8

A brilliant finish from Mount to latch on to a sublime Fernandes pass. Covered plenty of ground and linked up excellently with his teammates, including a couple of moments in the second half where he was vital in creating neat passages of play. Has done more than enough to warrant a starting spot this week.

Matheus Cunha 5

A relatively frustrating return to Molineux for the Brazilian. Cunha was not at his clean best on the night, and while he covered plenty of ground, he was having shots from all over the Wolves defensive third, with some going significantly wayward.

Substitutions

Lisandro Martinez 6

Came on for Ayden Heaven and was solid. Looked sharper on the ball than he has done in previous cameos, and will probably putting his name in the hat for a starting spot soon.

Leny Yoro 6

Allowed United to be more composed at the back, while also offering some more pace.

Kobbie Mainoo 6

Came on for Casemiro and did not do much wrong. Held on to the ball and distributed it well.

Joshua Zirkzee 5

A late substitute and he failed to get plenty of action, apart from some very late touches.

Patrick Dorgu 5

Similar to Dorgu, he did not get on the ball that much. When he did, he looked relatively bright.

Manager - Ruben Amorim 7

Got his team selection spot on after a few days where he has faced plenty of criticism. United looked miles better than Wolves, but that has not been that difficult for any side this season. United came out of the blocks with a point to prove in the second half, and arguably should have scored many more. Great to get another win on the board, while also giving some minutes to fringe players.
