Manchester United recorded their 17th Premier League defeat of the campaign on Sunday after suffering a 2-0 loss at home against West Ham United.

Ruben Amorim started a relatively strong side, with a number of regulars getting the nod.

United started with a bit of attacking intent, looking to take the game to West Ham, but that quickly faded and the Hammers went in front in the 26th minute, as Mohammed Kudus fired a low cross that was met by Tomas Soucek.

In the second-half, United were dealt a huge injury blow ahead of the UEFA Europa League Final, as Leny Yoro came off with an apparent foot injury, being replaced by Harry Maguire. The Frenchman headed straight down the tunnel, placing his availability for the rest of the season in doubt.

United tried to get back in the game, having plenty of chances, yet it was a case of deja-vu, with the forwards squandering a number of opportunities.

Jarrod Bowen sealed the result in the second-half with a finish after an Aaron Wan-Bissaka cutback.

United pushed forward in the final 20 minutes, yet they could not find the back of the net, with the match finishing in another horrible defeat.

Here are the player ratings for Sunday's defeat:

Altay Bayindir 5

Brought into the team and was relatively unconvincing when he was coming out to claim crosses. Not completely at fault with the goals, but probably still could have done much better.

Noussair Mazraoui 5

Rather surprising to see him start after Amorim has been going on about his fitness. He was not comfortable at the back and was rather loose with some of his passing.

Leny Yoro 6

Another confident display from the Frenchman, trying to make things happen, but it ended on a bad note. He was injured early in the second-half and had to be withdrawn.

Luke Shaw 4

Looked uncomfortable when faced with West Ham's rapid forwards and was hooked off at the same time as Yoro, probably to wrap him in cotton wool ahead of the Europa League Final.

Amad Diallo 7

United's best player on the day, always looking to get on the ball and created one of the only serious attempts on goal in the first-half. Created a chance for Rasmus Hojlund, yet the Dane could not score.

Bruno Fernandes 5

Started at the heart of midfield and was pretty timid throughout the game. He was outrun by the West Ham midfield and while he grew more into the game as United looked for a goal, he could not offer that creative touch.

Manuel Ugarte 3

Another tired display from the Uruguayan, with him looking sluggish on and off the ball. Dispossessed easily for the second West Ham goal, and was hooked off immediately after. His performances in Europe and in the Premier League are a complete contrast.

Harry Amass 4

Soucek got the better of him at the far post for the opening goal, and he seemed shaky on the ball following that, struggling to offer any threat going forward.

Mason Mount 6

One of United's better players, using the ball well and was proactive in his play. Came off before the hour-mark.

Kobbie Mainoo 4

Did not get into the game at all apart from a couple of neat touches. There has to be a decision on where he fits best in Amorim's system.

Rasmus Hojlund 4

Made more runs and was found more than usual. Miscontrolled a ball over the top in the first-half, and was then denied by Alphonse Areola in the second-half after being played in by Amad. Failed to score from close range and was struggling to finish every other chance that was presented to him.

Substitutions

Harry Maguire 6

Came on for Yoro and proved to be a threat at set-pieces.

Victor Lindelof 5

Another display where he was presenting chances to the opposition. On the way out.

Patrick Dorgu 5

Brought on at wing-back and while he drove at the West Ham defenders, he could not create many meaningful opportunities.

Alejandro Garnacho 5

Adventurous, but squandered a huge opportunity at the back post.

Christian Eriksen 5

Brought on in the final few minutes but was unusually untidy on the ball.

Manager - Ruben Amorim: 4

Rotated the team but still started a relatively strong line-up. Just like United have done this season, they looked lifeless and horrible throughout the match, much to his frustration. His decision to start Yoro, one of United's better defenders this season, ahead of the final, is questionable to say the least. United are in a European final, but this finish to the league season will undoubtedly be in Amorim's mind.
